UNICEF Korea announced that BTS members Jimin and J-Hope had each donated 100 million KRW (about $78,600) to children affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
J-Hope stated: “I hope this can give help and hope to the children who are suffering from the sudden earthquake.”
Meanwhile, Jimin mentioned: “I hope it will be of help to children affected by the earthquake.”
In like manner, actor Ji Chang-Wook provided 100 million KRW to Children's Emergency Relief.
Lee Ki Chul, the secretary general of UNICEF Korea, had once thanked BTS members for their impact on the world.
He quoted the words of a senior diplomat who once said: “South Korea has made two major achievements in the last 60 years. The first one was its democracy and economic development, and the second one was producing BTS.”
It is worth noting that the death toll from the Turkey-Syria earthquakes crossed 41,000.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan affirmed that the deadly earthquake was the biggest disaster they had experienced in the last century.
“This is the biggest disaster we’ve experienced in the last century after the 1939 Erzincan earthquake,” Erdoğan said, citing an incident in which more than 32,000 people were killed in eastern Turkey.
