BTS member J-Hope gave new meaning to the phrase teaser with the 17-second preview of his upcoming collaboration with Miguel on the song “Sweet Dreams.”
The K-pop superstar dropped the second taste of the upcoming single on Wednesday and it (barely) pulled back the curtain a hair on the anticipated team-up.
The clip teeing up the song due out on Friday bubbles up with a quickly strummed guitar over footage of the BTS singer fitfully sleeping in his bed as a light fixture on the ceiling subtly sways and shadows move across the wall over his mattress.
The camera then focuses in on a pair of glasses filled with soda and ice that appear to be shaken by an unseen force.
The final look is of a crashed-out Hobi slowly waking up when the sun hits his face. Aside from the guitar and a light beat — and a voice crooning “yeah!” — the teaser doesn’t provide much more details on what fans can expect from the song.
The new clip is of a piece with the previous preview that dropped a day earlier, in which pizza boxes emblazoned with the words “Dream Boy” slide off a shelf — again, seemingly during an earthquake-like event — as a series of young friends and an old couple are cast in shadow by a dark cloud cast on them by a home flying through the sky.
The first team-up between Hobi and Miguel will blend the two singer’s voices over a soulful R&B-pop track as they sing about the “desire to love and be loved,” according to a press release. “Sweet Dreams” will be j-hope’s first proper release since his special album, Hope on the Street Vol. 1, dropped last March.
The singer is in the midst of his 31-date Hope on the Stage tour, which is slated to hit the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on March 13.
In advance of the gig, j-hope will make his solo debut on The Tonight Show on Monday (March 10) with an assist from Miguel.
