Antiquities Minister Khaled Al-Anani took part, Wednesday in the reception held by the British Museum Board of Trustees (BoT) in London, upon an official invitation.
The British museum board of trustees is the highest authority of the museum, comprises up to 25 members of public and prestigious figures in British society from all walks of life. One Trustee is appointed by Her Majesty, 15 are appointed by the Prime Minister and five appointed by the Trustees themselves.
The remaining four Trustees are appointed by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
The Chairman is appointed by the Board from amongst its members. The full Board of Trustees meets four times a year usually at the British Museum.
During the celebration, Anani and the BoT members discussed ways of cooperation between both sides in the antiquities field in light of the huge museum projects carried out by the ministry including the Grand Egyptian Museum and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
Moreover, they also tackled means to take advantages of the British museum’s expertise in developing museum presentation, especially as the British Museum is one of the European Museums’ Alliance members; namely, the Louvre, the Egyptian Museum in Berlin, the Turin Museum in Italy, and the National Museum in the Netherlands.
The digitization of 10,000 glass negatives from the Egyptian Antiquities Registration Center (EARC) and the Egyptian Museum in cooperation with the British Museum has also been completed using the latest modern methods of conservation and maintenance.
It is noteworthy that the number of glass negatives in EARC and the Egyptian museum amounted to 60,000.
