The release date for “The Marvels”, the sequel to 2019's “Captain Marvel”, has been delayed from February 17 to July 28, 2023.
Not much is known about the plot, but it will feature Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, a fighter pilot turned superhero.
The sequel will see her teaming up with Captain Marvel super-fan, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Vellani.
Vellani will make her debut in the MCU in the Disney+ series "Ms. Marvel", which will be premiering on June 8.
Teyonah Parris and Zawe Ashton will also star in the movie.
Moreover, Samuel L. Jackson is set to reprise his role as agent Nick Fury in the upcoming sequel.
Filmmaker Nia DaCosta will direct the sequel from a script by Megan McDonnell.
The first Captain Marvel movie was released in 2019 and earned $1.1 billion globally.
The cast also included Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Annette Bening, Gemma Chan, and Lashana Lynch, whose onscreen daughter Monica Rambeau will appear in WandaVision (this time as an adult and played by Candyman actor Teyonah Parris). The film was directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
The film featured Nick Fury (Samuel Jackson), in his early days, teaming up with the great Captain Marvel to battle this new threat.
