“Bridgerton” leading actress Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne Bridgerton on the record-breaking Netflix hit, is not returning for the third season.
In an interview at the Sundance Film Festival with Screenrant, Dynevor revealed she would not appear in the upcoming season but noted she could pop up in a future season.
The Duchess of Hastings was the main character of “Bridgerton’s” breakout first season. She moved into a supporting role and appeared minimally in five episodes of Season 2.
Regé-Jean Page, who played her husband the Duke of Hastings, exited the series after Season 1.
Season 3 of "Bridgerton" follows Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) as she finally gives up her crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing him disparage her to his friends in the previous season.
She decided to focus on finding a proper husband who will respect her independence so she may continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters.
However, her search doesn’t go so well due to her lack of confidence, but she finds help from Colin after he gets back from his summer travels with a new look and major swagger. He is disheartened to learn that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder.
Eager to win back her friendship, Colin helps Penelope boost her confidence to attract the perfect husband. As the lessons start working a little too well, Colin is faced with figuring out what his true feelings for his friend are.
Penelope is also facing hardship due to her rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place. Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.
“Bridgerton,” based on the popular book series by author Julia Quinn, focuses on a different couple related to the Bridgerton family each season. The love story between Dynevor’s Daphne and Regé-Jean Page’s Duke Simon was the main focus of the first season, while Season 2 revolved around Jonathan Bailey’s Anthony Bridgerton and Simone Ashley’s Kate.
Dynevor can be seen next in the erotic thriller movie "Fair Play", in which she co-stars alongside Alden Ehrenreich.
They play a young couple whose relationship starts to unravel following an unexpected promotion at a cutthroat hedge-fund firm. The movie will premiere via Netflix at a future date.
