Apple Original Film revealed Friday the official poster and title for Brad Pitt‘s feature about Formula 1 racing, now titled "F1".
Apple is teaming up with Warner Bros. Pictures on the theatrical rollout. The tech giant has been releasing more of its movies in theaters before debuting them on its streaming service Apple TV+ along with other home entertainment platforms.
In the past, Apple partnered with the likes of Sony on the release of “Napoleon,” Paramount on “Killers of the Flower Moon”, and Universal on “Argylle.”
The Formula 1 movie will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, who previously oversaw “Top Gun: Maverick.” Ehren Kruger, who worked with Kosinski on “Top Gun: Maverick,” wrote the screenplay.
Pitt plays a former driver who returns to Formula 1 alongside his teammate (played by Damson Idris) at APXGP, a fictional team on the grid.
The movie is made in collaboration with Formula 1 and the F1 community, including the 10 F1 teams and their drivers, the FIA, and race promoters. Copper CEO Penni Thow serves as executive producer for the pic.
It is being shot during actual Grand Prix weekends as the team competes against the titans of the sport.
The cast includes Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia and Samson Kayo.
Kosinski will produce the feature alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films; and Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment, and Lewis Hamilton under his Dawn Apollo Films banner.
Warner Bros. landed the distribution deal for "F1" and is set for release on June 27, 2025, in North America and June 25, 2025, abroad.
The movie will be shown in Imax theaters, which could become the de facto format for consumers interested in a movie that will be marketed heavily on its racing sequences.
A sneak peek at "F1" will be screened at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix on Sunday, July 7.
