After the conclusion of 44th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) last November, a number of its participants received huge global reception.
"The Banshees of Inisherin," and "The Fabelmans" were among Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards 2023 nominations.
Both films compete for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture prize.
Moreover, "The Banshees of Inisherin" Colin Farrell competes for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role Prize.
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role Prize nominees list has “The Banshees of Inisherin” Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan. On the other hand, Paul Dano of “The Fabelmans” competes in the same category.
Kerry Condon of “The Banshees of Inisherin” is enlisted among Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role nominees.
"The Fabelmans," which was the opening film of 44th CIFF, won two Golden Globe prizes for Drama Motion Picture Prize, in addition the film's director Steven Spielberg won Director of a Motion Picture prize.
On the other hand, "The Banshees of Inisherin" received three Golden Globe prizes for Musical or Comedy Motion Picture prize, Actor in a Musical or Comedy Film prize for the film's Colin Farrell, and Screenplay of a Motion Picture.
In the same context, "The Son," and "The Menu," that were screened in the 44th CIFF, nominated for different prizes in the Golden Globe awards.
Legendary actor and the President of CIFF Hussein Fahmy expressed that he is pleased that a number of CIFF participants received such worldwide recognition, expressing his pride with the programing team, and the impression of Egyptian audience towards such international films.
