Blumhouse’s "Five Nights at Freddy’s" to Debut Simultaneously in Theaters and on Peacock in October

Universal Pictures has announced a simultaneous release for the Blumhouse-produced film adaptation of the popular horror video game series "Five Nights at Freddy's".

The movie is set for both a theatrical bow and a debut on the studio’s streaming service Peacock, on October 27.

Producer Jason Blum, a prolific presence on Twitter, took to the platform Wednesday to make an announcement of the release date, though a note on the simultaneous Peacock debut is absent.

This is the fourth Blumhouse movie to day and date with Universal’s streaming service after "Halloween Kills", "Halloween Ends", and "Firestarter".

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through. 

The movie stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Matthew Lillard.

Emma Tammi directed the project from a screenplay by is written by Scott Cawthon, Emma Tammi, and Seth Cuddeback. The movie’s animatronic characters will be created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

"Five Nights at Freddy’s" is produced by Jason Blum and Scott Cawthon. Executive producers includes Bea Sequeira, Russell Binder, and Christopher H. Warner. Universal Pictures presents a Blumhouse production, in association with Striker Entertainment.
