BLACKPINK member Rosé has teased that she has new music coming in the “not-too-distant future”, following the announcement of her new record deal.
The K-pop idol recently addressed her new record deal with South Korean label The Black Label in a lengthy Instagram post, where she apologized to fans for “the long wait” on news about her solo career. “I know some of you have been very eager to hear from me for a while.”
With her new deal with The Black Label, Rosé became the final member of BLACKPINK to set a path for her solo career after the girl band decided not to renew their individual contracts with YG Entertainment. Her fellow bandmates, meanwhile, have all launched their own companies.
“I personally didn’t want to speak or announce anything before I had everything aligned for my music to be out,” the singer explained. “As you all know, I have come from a place where more things have been done for me overdoing things on my own. So, naturally, I need time to learn, understand, doubt, and trust myself and others.”
Rosé confirmed that she has been working on new music, revealing that she has “been in and out of the studio almost every single day” from the end of 2023 and throughout 2024.
“To me, there is nothing more important than delivering to you what I absolutely love, which is music,” she added.
“This has been a year of drawing up a map and navigating to where I want to be and what I want to be doing going forward. It has been months of learning how to be an independent person for myself,” she continued. “I will have some other very exciting announcements in the not-too-distant future, but most importantly, I would love for everyone to be most excited for my music.”
Rosé and her BLACKPINK bandmates JENNIE, JISOO and LISA are currently on a break from full-band activities following the release of their Billboard 200-topping album "Born Pink" in 2022.
