Blackpink member Jennie has joined the family as a global ambassador for both Ray-Ban and Ray-Ban Meta lines.
In announcing the new partnership, the brand praised the Blackpink superstar, who has rocked the sunglass line in the past, as “a living embodiment of the Ray-Ban DNA, ruled by a restless spirit for expression and innovation.”
She returned the compliment. “I’m really happy to be partnering with Ray-Ban. It felt natural from the beginning. To me, confidence isn’t loud; it comes from feeling comfortable with yourself and expressing who you are in a quiet way,” the star, whose stage name is Jennie Ruby Jane, said in a statement. “Ray-Ban has that same energy: simple, expressive, and easy to live in. I love pieces that stay with you every day and become part of your mood, and this collaboration fits perfectly into that,”.
The global campaign finds Jennie wearing a variety of styles, including Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (available April 14), Ray-Ban Daddy-O (“a staple in Jennie’s rotation”), Ray-Ban Alix, several options from the Ray-Ban Asian Design collection and the Drea. The shoot featured some hints of deep red, which is said to be very intentional and a nod to her stage name, Jennie Ruby Jane.
Coinciding with the appointment, the EssilorLuxottica-owned eyewear brand released a campaign that channels the K-pop dol’s radical aesthetic, expressive energy, and fearless sense of self.
Invite her fans to “frame their next move,” she sports ’90s-inflected wrap shields, vintage-inspired metal silhouettes, and retro-feminine cat-eyes designed for all-day wear and comfort.
News of Jennie’s new ambassadorship comes hot on the heels of a new partnership with Adidas.
For its Adidas Originals Superstars campaign, Jennie stars alongside Samuel L. Jackson, supermodel Kendall Jenner, Spanish soccer star Lamine Yamal, rapper and record producer Baby Keem, NBA superstar James Harden, skater Tyshawn Jones, and Grammy’s newly minted best new artist Olivia Dean.
