Global K-pop powerhouse Blackpink has finally released "Deadline," their first album in four years, on Friday.
The project — which follows 2022's "Born Pink" — features five tracks, including the previously-released “Go,” last year’s lead single “Jump," “Me and My,” “Champion,” and “Fxxxboy.”
“It’s an album that we’ve all kind of obviously come back from after that year of exploring and all being our individual selves,” Rosé said of the project in a recent appearance on "Call Her Daddy", referring to the band’s 2024 break to explore solo opportunities. “And so I think it was really interesting to come back and see what was created after that. I really like all the songs there.”
Last year, the K-pop quartet consisting of Rosè, Jisoo, Lisa, and Jennie got back together for a sprawling stadium tour, before which they’d spent time apart to work on solo endeavors.
The foursome all released debut solo albums — titled "Alter Ego," "Rosie," and "Ruby," respectively — while Jisoo unveiled EP "Amortage".
Some of the members also pursued acting as well, with Lisa making her debut in "White Lotus," while Jennie starred in "The Idol," and Jisoo served as the female lead in Netflix’s series "Boyfriend on Demand".
While they thrived as soloists, all of the women have expressed missing working with their bandmates prior to reuniting. “I’ve missed doing tours with them. I miss our silly moments,” Jennie told Billboard in her January 2025 cover story. “Everyone took their own journey [during] this time, and I’m excited to share that with the girls. I want to say it’s going to be the most powerful [versions] of ourselves that anyone has seen.”
