The Sinai Peninsula in Egypt is home to a wide array of attractions, activities, and diverse wildlife both on land and in the sea. Notable cities like Ras Mohamed Park and Shark Bay in Sharm El-Sheikh add to their allure.

Spanning from the Mediterranean Sea in the North to the Red Sea in the South, this peninsula serves as a natural landbridge between Africa and Asia, covering an expansive area of around 60,000 square kilometers, which accounts for nearly 6% of Egypt's total land area.

Explore more destinations to visit in this sacred region with the Sada Elbalad English (SEE) compilation of the top tourist spots in Sinai.

Shark Bay

One of the most popular bays in Sharm El-Sheikh, Shark Bay is located on the western part of the city and stretches for nearly 7km from Neama Bay. It has numerous resorts, cafes, and restaurants and is the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer’s day.

Despite its scary name, the bay is brilliant for a family holiday thanks to its miles of safe, white, sandy beaches, offering a variety of swimming, beach sports, and water sports facilities, as well as nearby cafes and restaurants. Some beaches there offer camping nearby, as well as beautiful scenery to enjoy and plentiful sunshine.

Ras Muhammad National Park

Water sports enthusiasts should make a beeline for the Ras Muhammad National Park, which is located at the southernmost tip of the Sinai Peninsula where the waters of the Red Sea and Gulf of Suez mee, with its top-notch selection of PE centers and resorts catering to scuba pers and snorkelers.

When compared to Hurghada spots, the pe sites here are shallower and more accessible for beginner pers – but that doesn’t mean a boring time underwater.

It is one of the most stunning and impressive natural reserves in the world, the unspoiled nature in the park makes it a popular tourist destination. Ras Muhammad National Park indeed has the clearest water in Sharm, uncovering versatile underwater life.

The Bluest crystal clear waters here are home to a rich variety of marine life, including multi-hued corals and tropical fish at the Shark Reef, Shark Observatory, and Tiger Bay.

Taba

Located near the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba, it is a frequent vacation spot for both Egyptians and tourists, especially those from Russia on their way to other destinations in Egypt or as a weekend getaway. It is the most popular resort of Egypt's eastern coastline along the Red Sea, Egypt's Red Sea Riviera.

Nearly, the majority of current residents of Taba are Bedouins who were originally nomads, herding their goats and sheep around the desert, moving frequently, and setting up temporary settlements as they went.

While some of them continue to maintain a traditional nomadic lifestyle, the majority now live somewhat permanently in Bedouin Village - the only settlement in the protected area - and are heavily involved in the area's tourism industry. Many elements of Bedouin life remain ubiquitous in Taba, allowing visitors to enjoy an authentic cultural experience during their visit.
