British star Benedict Cumberbatch is set to star and executive produce Netflix’s limited series "Eric".
The six-episode series was first announced in November 2021. Set in 1980’s New York, the show follows Vincent Anderson (Cumberbatch), the lead puppet maker and puppeteer of America’s most popular children’s show, whose life begins to unravel when his young son, Edgar, disappears.
Now homeless and dealing with substance addiction, Vincent finds his only companion in Eric, a seven-foot-tall blue puppet, who finds solace through his friendship with Eric, the monster that lives under his son’s bed that leads him on a journey to find his son and find a way home.
The cast also includes Gaby Hoffman, McKinley Belcher II, Dan Fogler, Phoebe Nicholls, Clarke Peters, Ivan Morris Howe, David Denman, Bamar Kane, Adepero Odyue, Alexis Molnar, and Roberta Colindrez.
Lucy Forbes is directing the series from a script by writer and executive producer Abi Morgan.
Executive producers include Morgan via Little Chick as well as Jane Featherstone, Lucy Dyke, and Carolyn Strauss of Sister.
