Amazon MGM Studios dated "The Accountant 2" for a April 25, 2025 theatrical release. Until now, no release plans were made public about the sequel starring Ben Affleck and directed by Gavin O’Connor.
That date proved a solid frame for Amazon MGM this year with the Luca Guadagnino-directed, Zendaya-starring "Challengers", which opened to $15 million, made $50.1M stateside and $94.2M overall worldwide.
Currently, "Accountant 2" is the only studio wide entry on April 25, the weekend before Marvel Studios kicks off summer with "Thunderbolts" on May 2.
The logline reads:"Accountant 2" When her former boss is killed by unknown assassins, Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) is forced to contact Christian Wolff (Affleck) to solve the murder. With the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax (Jon Bernthal), Chris applies his brilliant mind and less-than-legal methods to piece together the unsolved puzzle. As they get closer to the truth, the trio draw the attention of some of the most ruthless killers alive — all intent on putting a stop to their search."
The cast also stars Oscar winner J.K. Simmons, Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, Robert Morgan, and Grant Harvey.
"The Accountant", which was penned by the first installment’s Bill Dubuque, was released by Warner Bros in 2016, earning $155M at the worldwide box office. It was the most-rented digital film of 2017.
"The Accountant" continues to be popular among audiences: following its recent debut on Netflix, the film ranked No. 1 on the service’s Global Top 10 Movies chart.
Artists Equity, which serves as the studio on The Accountant 2, acquired sequel rights from Warner Bros and brought the movie to Amazon MGM.
Artists Equity produces with 51 Entertainment. Producers are Affleck, Matt Damon, Lynette Howell Taylor, and Mark Williams.
