The Belgian Ambassador to Egypt, H.E. François Cornet d'Elzius, and artist Jalal Gomaa will inaugurate a cartoon exhibition by the Belgian artist "Luc Descheemaeker" at Beit Jalal in Abdeen Square, Cairo, on Thursday, February 10.

The exhibition is organized by Beit Jalal, in cooperation with the Egypt Cartoon Blog, and gathers 25 sculptural artworks, shedding light on many issues that the world is exposed to, including the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, social media, and other topics.

Born in 1955, the Belgian cartoonist lives in Turnhout, near Brussels, the Belgian capital.

Throughout his successful career, Descheemaeker won 270 international awards, held personal caricature exhibitions in Brazil, Slovakia, Poland, and Belgium, participated in hundreds of international caricature exhibitions, and was a jury member in many caricature festivals and competitions in Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, Slovakia, Iran, Izmir, and Turkey.

The event will be attended by a group of senior cartoonists and those interested in the art of caricature, media, and the public.

The exhibition, curated by artist Samir Abdel Ghani and artist Fawzy Morsy, will take place from today until February 15, 2022.

Here are some of Descheemaeker's seminal artworks.
