The Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has shortly landed at Cairo International Airport for a two-day official visit to Egypt. He was received by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi upon his arrival.
President El-Sisi is set to hold talks with Lukashenko to review progress in implementing the current agreements between the two countries. The duo will also discuss all ways of cooperation prospects in trade, economy, and humanitarian affairs.
The presidents will also discuss cooperation on the international arena, regional and global security.
The Belarusian president is also set to hold a number of meetings with Egyptian senior officials, including the Parliament Speaker Dr. Ali Abdel Aal.
This is the third visit of Lukashenko to Egypt in the history of bilateral relations, as he had previously visited Cairo in 1998 and 2017.
In 2015, the two leaders met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Thus, today Sisi and Lukashenko will meet for the fourth time.
Since President Sisi’s first official visit to Belarus in June 2019, the bilateral trade rose 32% up to $142 million.
During his visit, Sisi held talks with his Belarus counterpart on ways to boost bilateral ties.
He also met with the speakers of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly.
The Egyptian president met with representatives of the business community in the country, heads of major companies, as well as senior officials and representatives of governmental bodies on means of boosting economic cooperation and vast investment opportunities in Egypt in light of major national projects in the country.
The two presidents have exchanged views on a host of political issues at regional and international levels, topped by fighting terrorism and extremist ideology.
