Archaeologist Dr. Hussein Bassir, director of the Antiquities Museum at Bibliotheca Alexandrina and supervisor of Zahi Hawass Center of Egyptology, revealed that Queen Hatshepsut died of cancer at the age of 50. She also suffered diabetes.
This came during the seminar of "Queens of Pharaohs drama of love and power" at Zahi Hawass Center of Egyptology in the Smart Village.
Bassir stressed the "greatness of the ancient Egyptian woman and the greatness of her role in the ancient Egyptian society as she took power like men, in addition to her important role in the house, the temple and in the royal palace as a royal wife and a guardian for the young children until the young son grows up and takes power”.
He added that these lectures come in the light of the role played by the center to spread archaeological awareness among Egyptian university students.
