Barcelona smashed Alaves on Sunday with unanswered five goals in the La Liga final day, but their win is meaningless as the last year champions conceded the title to their arch rivasls Real Madrid.

Ansu Fati had put the Blaugrana ahead when captain Lionel Messi delivered a pass from the right of the box into the path of Ansu Fati, who swept home from close range after only 24 minutes.

Ten minutes later, Messi scored the second goal for his side, when controlled  Riqui Puig's pass in the box and took his time before shooting low into the corner.

One minute before the break, Luis Suarez  headed in from Jordi Alba's cross to score his 16th league goal of the campaign, at the end of a really smooth team move.

Nelson Semedo added the fourth goal in the 58th minute when the young Riqui Puig swung up another assist  to Semedo who blasted the ball beyond the reach of Roberto.

Messi scored his 25th La Liga goal and the fifth for Barcelona when Jordi Alba swung in a cross from the left and Messi caught it on the half-volley.
