Yemeni-Emirati musician Balqees Fathi has been appointed as UNICEF Ambassador to help raise awareness and advocate for children's rights and well-being.
In her new role, Fathi will use her voice to promote the importance of investing in children's health, education, and protection, particularly for those who are most vulnerable and marginalized.
"We are delighted to welcome Balqees to the UNICEF family," said Eltayeb Adam, UNICEF Representative to the Gulf Area in a statement on Monday.
He added, "Her passion for children's rights and her commitment to making a difference in the lives of children are truly inspiring. We look forward to working with her to support UNICEF's mission in the Gulf Area and beyond.”

The 34-year-old singer demonstrated her commitment to children's wellbeing through her previous humanitarian work, including her recent contributions to raising funds for UNICEF's emergency response to the earthquakes in Syria and Türkiye, which caused widespread destruction and displacement.
"I have seen first-hand the devastating impact that emergencies can have on children and families. That is why I am committed to supporting UNICEF's lifesaving work and to advocating for the rights and wellbeing of every child," she added.
As a UNICEF Ambassador, Fathi joins a distinguished group of advocates who use their talent, influence, and networks to promote the rights and wellbeing of children worldwide.
