The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain issued a statement today, Thursday, refuting Qatari authorities’ claims that 4 fighter jets belonging to the Royal Bahraini Air Force had violated Qatari airspace.
The Bahraini Foreign Ministry said in the statement, "The claim by the Qatari authorities that 4 Bahraini fighter jets violated Qatari airspace, on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, is irresponsible, and baseless."
"On Wednesday, during carrying out a joint training for two F-16s belonging to the Royal Bahraini Air Force and two of the same type belonging to the US Air Force in the training area in the skies of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of the joint air exercise, and after the end of time Specifically designated for the flight at 15:50, the four jets merged into one air formation and then headed to the skies of the Kingdom of Bahrain, crossing Saudi airspace towards the east to land at Isa Air Force Base,” the statement read.
The statement stressed that the jets didn’t cross the Qatari airspace at all.
Noteworthy, Qatar informed the United Nations that Bahraini fighter jets violated its airspace over its territorial waters” on Dec. 9.
