During his official visit to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, participated in the ceremony announcing Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025.
The event was inaugurated by Iraqi Prime Minister (PM) Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani and attended by Iraq’s Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, alongside several Iraqi ministers, Dr. Bandar Fahd Al-Fuhaid, President of the Arab Tourism Organization, Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Egyptian Ambassador to Iraq Ahmed Samir, Dr. Bahgat Abu Al-Nasr, Director of Tourism and Transport at the Arab League, as well as ambassadors and advisors from various Arab and foreign countries.
Fathy praised Baghdad’s rich historical and cultural legacy in the Arab and Islamic civilization.
He also expressed his pleasure in attending this significant event and congratulated Iraq on this achievement, wishing the country continued prosperity, peace, and progress.
As part of his visit, Tourism minister toured the Iraqi National Museum, accompanied by Iraq’s Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities.
Moreover, he received a detailed briefing on the museum’s collection, particularly artifacts that have been recently recovered, gaining deeper insight into Iraq’s historical and cultural heritage.
