Sony’s latest Bad Boy installment had a theatrical release date of June 14. But the studio wish to use the June 7, and that’s where it’s now dating the Will Smith-Martin Lawrence pic.

The announcement comes in the wake of Lionsgate pushing its John Wick spinoff Ballerina a year, from June 7, 2024 to June 6, 2025. The studio backfilled the date with its reboot of The Crow from filmmaker Rupert Sanders.

However, Sony will have Imax and PLFs for "Bad Boys 4", which is still awaiting a title.

While the plot of the movie is kept under wraps, the past three have followed the investigations of Miami PD Detectives Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Smith), netting over $841M worldwide in total, with each installment topping the gross of the last.

Gruffudd will play Lockwood, a high-profile attorney running for election.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have returned to direct, after helming the third chapter "Bad Boys: For Life, and are working from a script by Chris Bremner.

Others returning from the third entry include actors Paola Núnez, Vanessa Hudgens, and Alexander Ludwig.

The cast also includes Jacob Scipio, Eric Dane, and Ioan Gruffudd.

Producers are Jerry Bruckheimer, Smith and Doug Belgrad. Executive producers are Lawrence, James Lassiter, Chad Oman, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman, and Jon Mone.
