As the world raises the slogan "stay in your home" to limit the spread of Virus Corona, Aya Al-Hadidi is spending full days away from her family and her son, Adam, 9 years.
Al-Hadidi do practice her work as head of the intensive care department of Al-Sadr Hospital in Al-Mansoura , amid her hard tasks as a doctor and mother on Mother's Day; she deserves a salute.
Al-Hadidi became famous recently as a companion to the first death of a newborn in Corona virus in Egypt. She appeared in press interviews and had number of media calls.
She recounts how her son Adam got used to her ‘harsh’ system of life, which almost all Egyptian doctors undergo. During the pregnancy, she suffered from swine flu infection while working in the university hospital during its spread in 2010.
After completing recovery and then giving 1st birth, she returned to work while her younger sister took care of the infant. The sister used to bring the baby (Adam) to the hospital from time to time to breastfeed.
“Although, Adam was very attached to me and sometimes changed his interest in patients, he was aware of the nature and importance of my work and why I used to be absent; he would rejoice when I tell him how a patient got cured,” Al-Hadidi said. Meanwhile, I remember cancelling his birthday celebration after being informed of the first "Corona" condition; I left him at his father's house after the end of his visit period for several days, for fear of the possibility of my health condition and thus the transmission of infection to him She noted that all Egyptian doctors are heroes and fighters, not only today, but for decades.
It is sufficient that we work in harsh conditions and with limited capabilities and we achieve this by good results compared to many countries.
“We try to help everyone as much as we can and we hope that we contribute to the recovery of all patients, but we are very restricted,” the doctor added.
It suffices that everyone tries to stay at home from infection and its transmission while we face it ourselves; everyone enjoys vacations from work, especially women from mothers, to protect their children, however, we work and leave our children behind.
As for the Mother’s Day gift, she said that Adam used to give her a rose every year. She gave a number of advice to the Egyptian people, starting with ensuring that the stay at home as much as possible, and if one of them is ill or feels sick, wait for two weeks.
If they are healthy, they need to protect themselves from the transmission of the virus, which has no treatment until now, except for antivirals and some antibiotics and drugs for the respiratory system.
On other hand, she stressed that the first symptoms include feeling shivering, high temperatures and difficulty breathing, not every symptom of influenza is Corona.
