Egypt's First Female Citizen COVID-19 Death Confirmed in El-Dakhalyah

The Ministry of Health announced today that an Egyptian woman El-Dakhalya has passed away due to Coronavirus infection- the first death related to an Egyptian from the novel virus.

The Ministry also announced that 20 people have recovered from the virus while 13 new cases have been discovered.

The Ministry revealed in a statement today that 12 cases of new Coronavirus patients have been discharged from the isolation hospital out of the 27 cases whose results have turned from positive to negative, after receiving medical care.

Their recovery is in accordance with guidelines of the World Health Organization, bringing the total number of people recovered to 20 to date.

Dr. Khaled Mogahed, adviser to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs and the official spokesperson of the ministry, said that the 12 cases that left the isolation hospital today included 7 Egyptians and 5 Foreigners of different nationalities.

Mogahed revealed that the victim is a 60-year-old Egyptian woman from Dakahlya governorate; she was admitted at Sadr Al-Mansoura Hospital after suffering from acute pneumonia yesterday morning, and immediately a sample was taken; the result was positive for the novel Coronavirus yesterday evening, and immediately she was transferred to the isolation hospital before dying just a few minutes ago.

The adviser also revealed the total number of people who were registered in Egypt with the new Corona virus until today, Thursday, is 80 cases, including 20 who have recovered and been discharged from the isolation hospital, and only two death cases were recorded- a German citizen and a female Egyptian national.

He urged the public not to spread rumors regarding any virus cases or suspected of being infected with the new Corona virus in all governorates of the Republic except for what has been announced,

He indicated that once suspected of any infection will be announced immediately, with full transparency in accordance with the international health regulations, and in coordination with the World Health Organization.
