An Israeli airstrike that hit 4 residential buildings in the Gaza Strip killed at least 7 Palestinians from the same extended family overnight, five of them children, according to Sky News Arabia.

On Sunday, the Palestinian authorities said that the tally of the injured has also risen to 40.

In the same context, a search for missing people under the rubble is underway, Palestinian officials said.

It's worth mentioning that Israeli warplanes on Saturday resumed airstrikes on the affiliated Gaza Strip, causing heavy damage to residential buildings across the enclave.

Notably, the bombing took the death toll since the Israeli attacks started Monday to 174, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

The fatalities included 47 children and 29 women, while the number of injured rose to 1200, according to a statement from the ministry.

Tensions have been running high in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem and at the Mosque of Al-Aqsa and the old city of Jerusalem since the start of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan as Israeli forces and settlers assaulted Palestinians.

Later on, the deadly tensions moved from East Jerusalem to Gaza after Palestinian resistance groups there vowed to retaliate against Israeli assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque and Sheikh Jarrah if they were not halted.
