Arseniy Matyushenko assumed the role of the new Director of the Russian House in Alexandria.
Matyushenko who graduated from Moscow University's College of Asia and Africa, expressed his delight at the opportunity to work in Egypt for the first time.
"Egypt is a country with an ancient civilization, characterized by cultural and historical depth, giving a special significance to working in the "mother of the world," said Matyushenko.
Prior to his new position, Matyushenko, worked in Tunisia and then served as Deputy Director of the Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt before becoming the director of the Russian House in Alexandria.
Matyushenko met with a delegation from the Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities at the Russian House in Alexandria, where they extended their warm congratulations to him on his assumption of the chairmanship of the Russian House.
In his address, he emphasized the importance of cooperation with the Association of Graduates, highlighting their strong knowledge of Russian culture and language as valuable in bridging communication between the two cultures and peoples.
In turn, Sherif Gad, Chairman of the Graduates Association, congratulated the new director, expressing well wishes and acknowledging the significant historical relations and cooperation between graduates and Russian cultural centers in Cairo and Alexandria. Gad called for open and transparent dialogue on matters concerning Egyptian students in Russia, which currently number around 16,000, reflecting the confidence of Egyptian youth in Russian education.
Dr. Fathi Toghan, Secretary-General of the Graduates Association, noted the longstanding tradition of cooperation between the association and Russian centers and expressed the willingness to continue such collaboration. Plans for participation in organizing the International Forum for Graduates of Russian Universities in Cairo in December were also mentioned.
Dr. Alaa Aliwa emphasized the expected participation of a new generation of young graduates from Alexandria, highlighting the importance of this addition to the joint cooperation.
Matyushenko concluded by emphasizing that the Russian House in Alexandria is open to all Egyptians and welcomed suggestions from graduates, expressing readiness to implement and organize joint work to strengthen relations between the two countries.
