Ariana Grande released on Friday a remix of her “The Boy Is Mine,” the third single from her seventh studio album “Eternal Sunshine.”
For the remix, Grande joined hands with Brandy and Monica, who duetted on the 1998 song “The Boy Is Mine” and inspired the “7 Rings” singer’s version.
The two R&B legends also made surprise cameos in Grande's “The Boy Is Mine” music video as news anchors reporting on the rat crisis.
Directed by Christian Breslauer, the clip sees Grande transforming into Catwoman to capture the heart of mayor Max Starling (played by “Gossip Girl” star Penn Badgley) and releasing feral cats into the streets to eradicate a rat infestation.
Badgley follows Evan Peters as the latest male actor to make a cameo in a Grande music video after her video for “We Can’t Be Friends,” the second single from her album.
The video paid homage to “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” which the album was named after. “Yes, And” preceded the album as the first single.
Earlier in the week, Grande announced the remix on Instagram along with sharing the teaser for the track.
“I……… cannot believe this is real (I don’t know if I will even long after it’s out). My deepest and sincerest thank you to Brandy and Monica, not only for joining me for this moment, but for your generosity, your kindness, and for the countless ways in which you have inspired me," the pop star said. "It is near impossible to say how much this means to me. this is in celebration of you both and the impact that you have had on every vocalist, vocal producer, musician, artist that is creating today.”
