Ariana Grande has announced her eighth studio album, “Petal,” unveiling its release date and cover on social media.
The simple, elegant album artwork is a black-and-white photo of Grande in a rare instance of her wearing her hair down, brunette waves falling over her face as she smiles wide.
In the announcement, the pop star revealed that "Petal" — which executive produced and co-written by Grande and her longtime collaborator Ilya — will drop July 31st via Republic Records.

According to its countdown page on Spotify, the record will feature 12 tracks and follows 2024’s "Eternal Sunshine".
In a release, the Grammy winner describes the album as “something that is full of life” about “growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging.”
Ilya (whose full name is Ilya Salmanzadeh) is a Swedish-Persian producer who worked extensively with hitmaker Max Martin, co-produced and co-wrote much of “Eternal Sunshine” and has clocked hits with Taylor Swift and Sam Smith, among many others.
Grande is currently gearing up to go on tour in support of Petal‘s predecessor, with her first show slated for June 8.
The trek will run through September 1 and will close out with a run of 10 shows in London.
Though Grande had previously said that she wasn’t likely to release new music any time soon, wanting instead to focus on her acting career, she started teasing that she’d changed her mind a few weeks ago.
Earlier in April, she revealed that she was back in the studio after planting a major clue in the outgoing message of her Brighter Days hotline that said, “We’re counting down the 8s — oops! I mean, the days [until tour].”
The announcement comes on the heels of her three years of work around Universal’s “Wicked” and its sequel, as well as “Eternal Sunshine” and its 2025 deluxe edition.
While the tour was pegged to “Eternal Sunshine” when it was announced last year, it seems likely the new album will be a highlight of it.
Grande said that the tour could be her last “for a long time.”
“The last 10 or 15 years will look very different to the ones that are coming up,” Grande said in an interview last year on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast. “I don’t want to say anything definitive. I do know that I’m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long, long time. I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be beautiful. I think that’s why I’m doing it because I’m like, ‘One last hurrah!’”.
