Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey have found their next collaboration in a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s beloved musical “Sunday in the Park With George” at London’s Barbican Centre.
Performances will begin in summer 2027, with tickets on sale this May.
Tony and Olivier Award winner Marianne Elliot is directing, with design by Tom Scutt.
The show is produced by Empire Street Productions and presented in association with the Barbican.
Earlier on Wednesday morning, the “Wicked” co-stars took to Instagram to jointly post a cryptic photo of them sitting in front of Georges Seurat’s famous painting, “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte,” which the show was inspired by. “All it has to be is good,” Bailey wrote in the post’s caption, referencing the lyrics to the musical’s title song.

Last month, Deadline reported that Grande and Bailey were eyeing a revival of “Sunday in the Park With George,” the last major production of which was in 2017 on Broadway with Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford.
The Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical first opened in 1984, starring Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters, and is split into two acts with the same cast playing different characters.
The first centers around George, a fictionalized version of Seurat who is immersed in painting his masterpiece with help from his muse Dot.
The second focuses on George’s great-grandson (also named George), a contemporary artist who invites his grandmother Marie to help him present his latest work.
Grande and Bailey recently shared the big screen in Jon M. Chu’s two “Wicked” movies as Glinda and Fiyero, respectively.
In a recent interview with Variety, Grande teased that she had a very exciting announcement coming soon. Could she have been referring to this?
“I can’t say much yet, but it’s something that inspires me deeply. It contains multitudes,” Grande said. “I promise I’ll DM you the day it’s announced.”
