On June 27, 2026, the United States Embassy in Cairo celebrated the graduation of 240 university students, government personnel, and tech sector workers from the English for Career Readiness and AI Literacy (ECRAiL) program.

The closing ceremony, held at the Cairo Marriott, marked the culmination of a rigorous, 180-hour intensive curriculum designed by American and Egyptian specialists and implemented by the U.S. organization Amideast to bridge the gap between language proficiency, cutting-edge artificial intelligence, and workforce readiness.

This program showcased American excellence in technology and private-sector development and displayed the value of American partnership for future Egyptian leaders.

To kickstart that U.S.-Egypt partnership, the U.S. Embassy hosted an exclusive employment fair featuring more than 20 leading employers, including cutting edge technology firms such as General Motors Egypt, IBM, the National Telecommunication Institute, Dnaaya, Areeb Technology, Pyramids Bits, Sprints AI, VOIS, SITA-Egypt, Tech Mahindra, Next Technology Development, QNBeyond Plus, Evolvice, Vertex Technologies, Raya CX, Ibn Sina Pharma, Saudi Egyptian Industrial Investments Company, and the Nahdet Misr Group.

U.S. Embassy Cairo’s Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy Ruben Harutunian noted, “As the world leader in AI and digital innovation, the United States is Egypt’s natural partner in building a future that brings greater security and prosperity to both our nations. I encourage you to engage with the exciting technology companies we have invited here today.”

Funded by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, the ECRAiL initiative was implemented directly within participants' respective local communities in Cairo, Alexandria, and Aswan. By operating locally, the program was uniquely positioned to bridge classroom theory with economic realities on the ground.

The curriculum paired advanced workplace English and digital fluency with immersive field trips to regional businesses, startup incubators, and manufacturing sites. Furthermore, prominent local business leaders served as guest speakers, providing participants with real-world insights and mentorship.
