Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi on Thursday strongly condemned Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, describing it as part of a broader effort to impose Israeli sovereignty over the disputed holy site and alter its historical and legal status.
Al Yamahi said Ben-Gvir entered the compound accompanied by thousands of Israeli settlers under heavy security protection, accusing Israeli authorities of allowing provocative religious rituals, restricting Muslim worshippers' access, and escalating tensions in Jerusalem.
He warned that the repeated incursions were no longer isolated incidents but reflected a systematic plan to entrench temporal and spatial division of the site and advance the "Judaization" of occupied Jerusalem.
Al Yamahi called on the international community, the U.N. Security Council and UNESCO to take urgent action to halt what he described as violations of international law, ensure protection for Islamic and Christian holy sites, and hold Israeli officials accountable for actions that undermine regional peace and stability.
