The Arab League's General Secretariat on Wednesday opened a two-day meeting of experts and representatives from Arab ministries of justice, interior and other relevant authorities to review a draft Arab guiding law on the protection and assistance of internally displaced persons.
The fourth meeting, held at the League's headquarters in Cairo, aims to finalize discussions on the draft legislation designed to strengthen legal frameworks for protecting displaced people across the Arab region.
Maha Bakhit, Director overseeing the Legal Affairs Sector at the Arab League, said the meeting is being held in implementation of a decision adopted by the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice during its 41st regular session in November 2025. She said the draft law seeks to provide a common legal reference to help Arab states enhance protection and humanitarian assistance for internally displaced persons while promoting coordinated regional responses to displacement challenges.
