The 111th session of the Committee on Educational Programs for Arab Students in the Occupied Arab Territories opened Sunday at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo under the chairmanship of the State of Palestine.
The five-day meeting, running from June 14 to 18, brings together representatives from Jordan, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Egypt, as well as officials from the Arab States Broadcasting Union, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Participants are reviewing challenges facing the Palestinian education sector, including what they describe as repeated attacks on educational institutions, students, teachers and curricula, as well as restrictions that hinder access to education in the occupied territories.
