The Cairo-University affiliated National Cancer Institute in Giza is receiving the patients as the staff have resumed their work inside the building while barriers were imposed to separate the facade damaged by the explosion on Sunday.

Cairo University president Dr. Mohamed Othman El-Khosht announced that the Arab Contractors Company has already begun the restoration work of the damaged parts of the institute.

He pointed out that they are receiving patients inside halls while alternative places have been available for patients to receive treatment.

Cairo University president delivered a message of reassurance to the patients and their families saying:” "We have a beehive working to provide comfort for the patients during receiving treatment, it has resumed its work and this proves that Egypt can."

The death toll from a multi-car deadly crash and the ensuing explosion in central Cairo rose to 20 and 47 injured, the Health Ministry said Monday in a statement.

“There are around four seriously injured cases that were registered into the intensive care unit, while other injuries varied between mild to moderate bone break. There are different levels of burns, and cuts and bruises across the injuries’ bodies,” the statement read.

A total of 42 ambulance vehicles were deployed to the crash site immediately to transfer injuries to receive needed treatment, and that there was a bag of human remains, according to Health Ministry Spokesperson Khaled Megahed.
