Apple TV+ has finally unveiled the premiere date and the first teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated TV series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”.
The series debuts its first two episodes on November 17 followed by a new episode every Friday through January 12, 2024.
Based on Legendary’s Monsterverse, the 10-episode series follows two siblings who find themselves revisiting the past — from present-day to 1950s San Francisco in the wake of Godzilla and the Titans’ destructive battle — to uncover the truth behind a secret organization and a world of monsters.
The series stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.
Per the official synopsis, “’Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.”
Executive producers Matt Shakman, Joby Harold, and Tory Tunnel expressed their excitement in getting the chance to craft a Monsterverse story of their own.
In a statement, they said, “Over the last few years, we feel fortunate to have been able to work on a show that allowed us to embrace the scope and mythology of Legendary’s Monsterverse.”
“Through 10 hours of character-driven television, our show explores the question of who the true monsters are in a world of coexistence with Titans,” they added. “While at the same time taking us on a globetrotting adventure that will hopefully keep the audience as entertained as they are emotionally engaged.”
“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” is developed by Legendary Television’s Chris Black and Matt Fraction and executive produced by Black, Fraction, Shakman, Harold, Tunnell, Andy Goddard, Brad Van Arragon, Andrew Colville, Hiro Matsuoka, and Takemasa Arita.
