Lebanese President Michel Aoun said on Tuesday that the assassination of Rafik al-Hariri greatly affected the lives of the Lebanese people and the course of events in Lebanon.

In press statements, Aoun called on the Lebanese to respect what will be issued by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) in Hariri’s case, despite the fact that "The late justice is unfair."

It is worth mentioning that, the United Nations-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) is set to issue the long-awaited verdict in the 2005 bombing that killed former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri.

Hariri, a Sunni Muslim billionaire, had close ties with the United States, Western, and Sunni Gulf Arab allies, and was seen as a threat to Iranian and Syrian influence in Lebanon.

Initially scheduled for August 7, the Dutch-based international court postponed its own verdict in Hariri's assassination out of respect for the countless victims of Beirut's massive blast which took place a few days ago.

Several family members are in attendance at the Netherlands-based STL, including Rafik al-Hariri's son Saad.
