Anya Taylor-Joy is the latest addition to the cast of “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.”

The New Line and Warner Bros. feature is directed by and starring Andy Serkis, who returns to play Gollum, alongside Ian McKellen (as Gandalf), Elijah Wood (Frodo), and Lee Pace (King Thranduil).

Taylor‑Joy joins a standout ensemble of new cast members, including Kate Winslet (Marigol), Jamie Dornan (Strider) and Leo Woodall (Halvard).

The Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee is set to play the role of Seren, a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm, who is described as “a trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil.”

Warner Bros. will release “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” worldwide on December 17, 2027.

The casting also marks Taylor-Joy’s third role in one of Warner Bros.’ marquee franchises following “Furiosa” (the prequel to “Mad Max: Fury Road”) and the “Dune” movies.

The finale of Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed trilogy, “Dune: Part Three,” will be released on December 18.

Taylor-Joy will next be seen in Apple TV+’s “Lucky,” which she also executive produces.

Over two decades, the six theatrical “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” films earned nearly $6 billion worldwide.

“The Hunt for Gollum” aims to continue that storied cinema legacy.

The movie will chronicle the search for the titular corrupted Hobbit in the years leading up to the trilogy’s first installment, “The Fellowship of the Ring.”

It reunites the Oscar-winning creative team, with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Zane Weiner producing. Ken Kamins, Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish of The Imaginarium are executive producers.

Original trilogy screenwriters Walsh and Boyens are joined by Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou in adapting the J.R.R. Tolkien source material.

The next film in the fantasy franchise, “The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past,” will be written by Philippa Boyens, Stephen Colbert and Peter McGee. That project is produced by WingNut Films in association with Spartina Industries.
