Spanish actor Antonio Banderas praised Morocco's national football team, stating that it deserved the win against Spain in the FIFA World Cup 2022, which is held in Qatar.
The statement came during an interview with Raya Abirached on the slides of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah.
In his talks with Raya, Banderas congratulated the Atlas Lions on its qualification to the quarter-finals of the World Cup, affirming that their win is well-deserved.
He also expressed his love for Morocco, noting that his father used to work as an officer and often goes to Morocco, so there are common things in their culture.
In the same vein, the Spanish actor commented on his famous character “Zorro”, highlighting that it had changed foreign people’s perception of Hollywood, which restricted Africans, Spaniards, and Arabs to evil roles.
Furthermore, he noted that the Red Sea Film Festival contributed to presenting talents from Muslims and Arabs to the world.
