Antiquities Ministry Takes Part in Earth Hour

On Thursday, The Ministry of Antiquities & Tourism took part in the international event known as the " Earth Hour."

This event includes turning off unnecessary lights for an hour from 8.30 p.m until 9.30 p.m. to rationalize the electricity consumption in the world to face the global warming phenomena.

Dr. Osama Tal'at, head of the Sector of Islamic, Christian and Jewish Antiquities at the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said the ministry turned off unnecessary lights in some archeological sites in governorates.

Those sites include Saladin (Salah El Din) Citadel in Cairo, Mamai al-Saifi Parlor and the Sultan Qalawun group on al-Muizz Street, the mosques of Sultan Hassan and al-Rifa’i, Baron Empain Palace in Heliopolis neighborhood, and Aisha Fahmy Palace in Zamalek.

In addition to turning off the external lighting of Qaitbay Castle in Alexandria, Salah El-Din Castle in Taba, Youssef Kamal Palace in Nagae Hammadi, and the Sharm El-Sheikh Museum in South Sinai Governorate.
