Antiquities Min. Launches ‘Egyptian Ancient Writing’ Initiative

Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities has launched the first activities of the "Ancient Egyptian Writing" program.

Last year, the ministry organized an initiative to educate visitors of public libraries the ancient Egyptian civilization.

The initiative was launched on the International Day of Museums at the libraries of the Egyptian Society for Culture and Community Development.

Dr. Rasha Kamal, Director General of the Department of Cultural Development and Community Communication at the Ministry of Antiquities, said that the program includes a series of seminars on the ancient Egyptian language, especially hieroglyphics.

She added that the program also includes a workshop for children to teach them how to write their names in hieroglyphic lines inside Kalmouk cartridges, in addition to organizing a program on sports through the ages

Mrs. Kamal pointed out that the initiative is targeting the children visitors of libraries to develop archaeological awareness and to strengthen their belonging to the country.

The events will be held in July and August in nine libraries of the Egyptian Society for Culture and Community Development.

The iterative will also be held at the Ardh Al-Golf Cultural Center, the Arab Al-Mohammadi Children's Library, the Maadi Public Library, Khaled Bin Al Waleed Public Library, the Child's Bookstore, the Nasr City Library, Shoubra El Kheima Library, Helwan Children's Library and the 6th of October Library.
