Minister of Antiquities, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, will inaugurate two temporary exhibitions, “Mummies Caches” and “Education in Ancient Egypt” for two months, on the occasion of the 117th anniversary of the establishment of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir.
The first exhibition consists of a selection of four caches that have been discovered before, which includes two royal mummies caches, Deir el-Bahari cache “Tomb TT320” that was discovered in 1881, and the tomb of King Amenhotep II “KV35” in 1898.
A number of royal mummies, including the mummies of King Ramesses I, II and III and Seti I and II, and the Khufu Ship and others, were discovered within the KV35.
It will also include Bab el-Gasus cache (the gate of the priests)that was discovered in 1891; it contained dozens of mummies of the priests and priestesses of the god Amun, and the Assasif cache that was discovered by the Egyptian archaeological mission last October in Luxor.
The second exhibition highlights education in ancient Egypt with a display of a unique collection.
The pieces of the collection shed light on the form of the educational process in ancient Egypt and its various patterns that contributed to the formation of ancient Egyptian civilization in general and its impact on other civilizations.
