CAIRO, March 20 (SEE) - Minister of Antiquities Khaled Al-Anany headed to Paris on Wednesday to inaugurate the King Tutankhamun exhibition on his second stop after his show in Los Angeles, USA.

Anany will tour the world’s capitals in the company of Tutankhamun’s treasuries before stationing them permanently in the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), expected to be opened in 2020.

Anany will officially open the exhibition on Thursday under the motto of “Tutankhamun…Treasuries of a Pharaoh.”

The Paris show will be opened for visitors from March 23 until mid-September.

The French Capital City celebrated the reception of Tutankhamun golden statue which previously visited Paris 52 years ago.

In 1967, 1.2 million visitors visited the Golden Pharaoh in Paris.

The streets, main squares, buildings and metro stations in Paris were decorated with huge banners bearing the face of The Golden King and some of his treasures.

The Golden King and his exhibition also plastered the front pages of French newspapers and magazines, most of which published coverage about the King Tutankhamun exhibition and his tomb. The exhibition opening is considered that biggest cultural event in France for the coming days.

The exhibition is part of the celebrations marking the centennial anniversary of the 20th century’s most important discovery of the tomb of King Tutankhamun, which was made in 1922 by British archaeologist Howard Carter on the Western Bank of Luxor.

The organizers said more than 130,000 tickets have been sold so far and the number of tickets to be sold pre-opening-day is expected to reach 150,000.

In total, 150 objects that were discovered in 1922 in the most famous Egyptian pharaoh's tomb will be on show, many of which have never left Egypt before. The exhibition will also include some masterpieces from the Louvre.

The exhibition is open for public every day from 10am to 8pm, Paris Local Time.

For the prices:

  • Monday to Friday: €22 for adults and €18 for Children (4-14 years).
  • Saturday, Sunday, during school holidays in area C and on public holidays: €24 for adults and €20 for Children (4-14 years).
