Antiquities Min. to Organize Exhibition for Replicas in Russia

The Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities will organize an exhibition for archaeological replicas in the Russian city of St. Petersburg to inform the Russian people about the ancient Egyptian civilization. The exhibition is scheduled to be held at the end of 2019.

On his part, Amr al-Tibi, executive director of the Replica Production Unit at the Antiquities Ministry, said that the exhibition comes upon a wide interest of Russian citizens to know about the ancient Egyptian civilization.

He added that it also will contribute to increasing the number of Russian tourists to visit Egypt and know more about its archaeological and tourist attractions.

He pointed out that the exhibition will roam a number of Russian cities in order to enable the largest number of the Russian citizens, especially children, to learn about the ancient Egyptian civilization by watching a number of the most important replicas of Egyptian antiquities.

The exhibition includes 77 archeological replicas, including limestone head of Akhenaten with a height of about 1.5 meters, a bust of Queen Nefertiti and a number of distinctive replicas belonging to King Tutankhamun, including the throne, the war wheel, and the golden mask inlaid with semi-precious stones.

The exhibition will also include a number of Tutankhamun’s fishing boats, which were found in the king’s cemetery.
