 Antiquities Min. Gives Lecture in Beijing Univ. on New Discoveries

President of Beijing University and key officials of Faculty of Antiquities and Museums received today’s afternoon Dr. Khalid El Enani, Minister of Antiquities.

The minister is on a visit to the Chinese capital. He gave a lectured attended by more than 100 male and female students on the recent projects and discoveries along with the museums which are still under construction.

President of the leading Chinese, academics attended the lecture.

During the lecture the minister reviewed the recent discoveries which were covered widely by international media, especially the Chinese outlets.

The minister pointed out the new museums and archaeological sites, which have been opened recently to the public to create more tourist promotion in Egypt.

The minister mentioned a number of national projects carried under supervision of his ministry such as restoring of Palace of Baron Empain in Heliopolis District, north to Cairo. It will be opened soon to narrate history of that district.

He also mentioned the ongoing works to develop the National Museum of the Egyptian Civilization which has recently received the royal mummies.

He, furthermore, affirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is still under construction.

The GEM is scheduled to open by the last quarter of the coming year.

Students of Beijing University inquired about details of the new discoveries and praised the new findings, which led to increase in Chinese demand to tourist in Egypt.

After the lecture, President of Beijing accompanied the Egyptian minister in a tour field through premises of the university.

They discussed ways to sustain cooperation between the university and the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities in the fields of archaeological work, museums and training of staffs.
