Academy Award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins has officially entered the music recording world for the first time, signing a deal to release an album featuring his original orchestral compositions.
The project reveals a lesser-known side of the legendary actor, whose first passion was music before he pursued acting.
Although Hopkins became one of Hollywood's most celebrated stars, he continued composing music privately for decades and has now decided to share his work with audiences through his debut album, Life Is a Dream.
Classical music label Decca Classics announced that it has signed Hopkins to release a collection of his original orchestral works, marking his first full-scale music project as a composer.
The album is scheduled for release on August 21, 2026, and features compositions written throughout different stages of Hopkins' life.
The pieces are inspired by personal memories, his homeland, family, cinematic journey, and significant moments that shaped his career.
The recordings are conducted by renowned maestro Gustavo Dudamel, with performances by the Philharmonia Orchestra, alongside acclaimed cellist Gregorio Nieto and pianist Sergio Tiempo, bringing together one of cinema's greatest icons with some of classical music's most distinguished artists.
To accompany the announcement, Hopkins released his first single, "Bracken Road," a piece from his orchestral work "1947: Suite for Solo Piano and Orchestra."
