Anne Hathaway and Dave Bautista are teaming up for an untitled action comedy that Jonathan Tropper is scripting for Amazon MGM Studios and AGBO.
The movie is inspired by an actual sting in which agents posed as a couple to infiltrate global criminal enterprises.
It culminated in a staged wedding in New Jersey. When the crime bosses checked in for their table assignments, they were arrested and dragged away so as not to tip off the next suspect.
The story will be refashioned into a mismatched partner story of two undercover FBI agents with radically different styles being forced to pretend to cohabitate. Initially, they detest one another. By the end they learn to respect each other as the case winds to a close.
The project will be produced by AGBO principals Joe and Anthony Russo, along with Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco and Tropper.
Hathaway is also producing through her Somewhere Pictures banner and Bautista through his Dogbone Entertainment banner.
AGBO brought the package to Amazon MGM, its partner on a second season of "Citadel" and the upcoming feature "The Bluff".
