Paramount+ has greenlit the true crime series “Fear Not” with Anne Hathaway attached to star.

The limited series is based on the Vanity Fair article “True Crime, True Faith: The Serial Killer and the Texas Mom Who Stopped Him.” written by Julie Miller. Bash Doran is writing the series adaptation.

The official logline for the series' reads: “‘Fear Not’ tells the story of a prolific serial killer, Stephen Morin — accused of more crimes than Ted Bundy — and the unlikely bond he formed with Margy Palm (Hathaway), the last woman he ever kidnapped. Morin’s abduction of Palm, which started as a deadly captive situation, took an unlikely turn: one which included compassion, prayer and profound courage. Palm’s devotion to her faith and her insistence that Morin could be transformed, became the impetus of a relationship that lasted long after Palm was returned to safety — until Morin received the death penalty.”

Hathaway is also an executive producer on the series under her Somewhere Pictures banner along with Adam Shulman and Johnathan Rice.

Steve Stark and Stacey Levin of Toluca Pictures executive produce, as do Helen Eastbrook for Vanity Fair Studios and Margt, Bart, and Noelle Palm. MGM Television will produce.

This marks the latest major female-led series for Paramount+ following the change in leadership after the Paramount-Skydance merger.

Under the direction of Cindy Holland, the chair of DTC for Paramount, and Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+, the streamer has been making a push toward more female-skewing content, including a straight-to-series order for the legal drama “Discretion” starring Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning, which was announced in October.

The project is one of the few TV starring roles Hathaway has had in her illustrious career.

She began her onscreen work in the 1999 TV series “Get Real” and recently starred in the 2022 Apple TV limited series “WeCrashed.”

Hathaway is best known for her films, including her Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning turn in 2013’s “Les Misérables.”

She was also nominated for both awards in 2009 for the film “Rachel Getting Married.”

Other notable credits include “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Love & Other Drugs,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” and “Brokeback Mountain.”

Hathaway will be seen next in the “Devil Wears Prada” sequel and Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.”
