American actress Anne Hathaway has revealed the story behind her support for Arsenal, crediting club legend Thierry Henry as the key influence.

Speaking during a television interview with Meryl Streep, Hathaway explained that Henry’s brilliance on the pitch played a major role in drawing her to the North London club.

The former striker represented Arsenal between 1999 and 2007, with a brief return in 2012, and remains one of the most iconic players in English football history.

Henry enjoyed remarkable success during his time at Arsenal, winning the Premier League title twice and claiming the Golden Boot award four times.

He was also a central figure in the club’s historic 2003-2004 season, when Arsenal went unbeaten throughout the league campaign.

Hathaway described that team as “unbeatable,” highlighting her admiration for the club’s style and dominance during that era.

She added that watching matches alongside her father helped strengthen her connection to Arsenal.

The actress also noted the influence of family in shaping her football loyalty, explaining that once her father declared his support for Arsenal, it naturally became her team as well.

She suggested that supporting a club can often be a shared family tradition passed down through generations.

Arsenal are currently pushing to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2004, leading the standings by a narrow margin ahead of Manchester City as the season approaches its conclusion.
