The movie's official synopsis reads: "Almut (Pugh) and Tobias (Garfield) are brought together in a surprise encounter that changes their lives. Through snapshots of their life together – falling for each other, building a home, becoming a family – a difficult truth is revealed that rocks its foundation. As they embark on a path challenged by the limits of time, they learn to cherish each moment of the unconventional route their love story has taken, in filmmaker John Crowley's decade-spanning, deeply moving romance."
The film has Benedict Cumberbatch among its executive producers and was directed by John Crowley and based on a screenplay developed by Olivier award-winning playwright Nick Payne.
"We Live in Time" reunites Crowley with Garfield. They previously worked together on the 2007 drama "Boy A".
Earlier this year, Pugh was seen as Princess Irulan in "Dune: Part Two". The actress is also preparing to reprise her role as Yelena Belova in Marvel's "Thunderbolts", while Garfield also stars in "The Magic Faraway Tree" and "After the Hunt".
"We Live in Time" will premiere in theaters in the United States on October 11.
