Antiquities Minister Khaled Anani partook on Sunday in the celebration, organized by the Suez Canal Authority, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of opening the Suez Canal.
The celebration was attended by French Ambassador to Egypt Stefan Roumtier, senior officials of the Antiquities Ministry and the authority.
The attendees listened to a detailed explanation about the canal's history and its importance in the global trade and watched documentaries showing the stages which the canal witnessed throughout history.
Anani and Osama Rabei, the chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, inspected a historic building that is supposed to be a museum for the canal. It is worth noting that the works had started since April and 65% had been implemented.
It is expected to open in mid-2020.
